2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S vs 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R

The 2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S vs 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R comparison has fueled many debates among motorcycle enthusiasts this year. This is a discussion that has been going on for many years and just evolves as each new iteration is introduced. Our appreciation for conversations like this is just one reason you should shop with Harley-Davidson® of Wesley Chapel. We are, after all, riders and passionate fans just like you. Another reason is our selection, which includes the Low Rider® S and all of the other H-D® models. You can see it in person at our showroom serving Tampa St. Petersburg Clearwater Wesley Chapel and the surrounding areas. But perhaps what separates us most is our approach to the customer experience. You can count on us to personalize it and to go that extra mile for you.

Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S

The 2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S is a relatively new vehicle in the H-D® lineup. When the Dyna Low Rider® S rolled out in 2016, many would agree it was an instant classic. But when the Dyna line got scrapped, even the S could not avoid the axe. The good new is that it would not be gone long, and H-D® reintroduced it for the 2020 model year built on the Softail platform. Harley-Davidson® markets it as the perfect option for rebels seeking that classic West Coast style. Characteristics include an aggressive riding experience, sports bike handling and agility, an upright riding position and mid-mount foot controls. It also features moto-style drag bars and the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 V-Twin engine.

Suzuki Boulevard M109R

The 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R is a performance V-Twin cruiser. It was first made available at Suzuki dealerships serving Tampa St. Petersburg Clearwater Wesley Chapel for the 2016 model year, which makes the comparison to the Low Rider® S even more interesting. Note that in some markets this bike is called the Intruder M1800R, but there are no real differences outside the name. The Boulevard M109R was developed by Suzuki to achieve a middle ground between sport bike and cruiser, and while it was not received well at first, it has gone on to win over a lot of enthusiasts around the world.

Harley-Davidson® vs Suzuki

Comparing Suzuki to Harley-Davidson® is interesting in that there is often not much need to do it. Suzuki tends to focus more on sports bikes and innovating in that domain. Harley-Davidson® tends to focus on tourers and cruisers. But the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S and 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R are one area where the two brands do intersect. A notable difference between the brands are at least the perception of reliability and longevity, and industry statistics bear this out to some degree. H-D® motorcycles are reliable and last a long time. Those statistics do not reflect as kindly on Suzuki, and the Japanese brand did not fare well at all according to a 2020 assessment by Consumer Reports.

Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S and Suzuki Boulevard M109R

Putting aside reliability and longevity concerns, the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S vs 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R comparison is interesting in that you can see the influence of the brands. Both models are cruisers that incorporate sport bike elements, but the Low Rider® S looks more like a cruiser whereas the Boulevard M109R looks like a sports bike. Both of these vehicles do provide a similar amount of pound-feet of torque. The Low Rider® S makes 100 horsepower. The M109R does provide more off the lot, but you also have the option of stage kits with the Low Rider® S if you want to close that gap.

Experience the Difference

Which is better will probably depend on your preferences as a rider. If you love cruisers and the Harley-Davidson® brand in particular but just want a bike that is a bit sportier, the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® S is a fantastic option. On the other hand, if you are a fan of sports bikes but moving in the other direction but not quite ready for saddlebags and the like, the 2021 Suzuki Boulevard M109R is an excellent option. If you are unsure, then we highly recommend test-riding them both.
