Of course, our showrooms are the highlights of our locations, and one of the bikes that draws the most attention is the Low Rider®. A Suzuki motorcycle often compared to the Low Rider® is the Boulevard C50, and with that in mind, let us compare the 2020 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® vs 2021 Suzuki Boulevard C50.

Harley-Davidson® Low Rider®

The 2020 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® is part of the H-D® Cruiser family. While it is very much a modern machine, it harkens back to the California motorcycle culture of the 1960s, and Harley-Davidson® actually markets it toward rebels seeking a now classic West Coast style. The marketing also emphasizes that the Low Rider® has aggressive styling with sport bike handling and agility, and it also accentuates that this motorcycle has the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 V-Twin engine and moto-style drag bars. Other notable characteristics include an upright riding position, mid-mount foot controls and a screen. The 114 delivers ample torque whether you are hitting an entrance ramp or passing another vehicle, and it delivers that pure rumble that fans of Harley-Davidson® fans love. It is certainly a head turner.

Suzuki Boulevard C50

The Boulevard C50 is a cruiser motorcycle that Suzuki has been making for the past 20 years or so, and the 2021 Suzuki Boulevard C50 is the latest iteration. The C50 is actually a rebranding of the Volusia, which was named such because Volusia County hosted the 2001 Daytona Bike Week where it premiered. The biggest difference between the C50 and the Volusia is that the C50 features fuel injection as opposed to a carburetor. Suzuki opts for a more traditional chrome aesthetic and allows you to pair it with either Candy Daring Red or Solid Iron Gray. Its marketing points out that it makes a bold impression with traditional cruiser styling, and it emphasizes that the C50 has kicked-out forks.

Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® vs Suzuki Boulevard C50

What jumps out first in comparing the 2020 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® vs 2021 Suzuki Boulevard C50 is that Suzuki has opted for the more traditional chrome aesthetic. Harley-Davidson®, on the other hand, has opted for a blacked-out aesthetic. Harley-Davidson® has a good feel for the market. Among cruiser enthusiasts, this is the style that is in right now. While we appreciate Suzuki seeking to maintain true to the roots of this culture, it does seem like an odd decision not to even offer a blacked-out look.

As for performance and feel, there are perhaps more similarities than you may expect. This is in part because they are both cruisers, but it also seems as if there is been an attempt by Suzuki to learn what makes the Low Rider® as popular as it is. Still, we feel that the Low Rider® S is superior, and reasons include the handlebar positioning, the seat height and how it feels stopped and flat footed. There is also no comparison when riding. The Suzuki is a well-made bike that feels good to ride, but Harley-Davidson® delivers a tactile riding experience that other motorcycle makers have trouble mimicking. There is also the soul-satisfying rumble, and while the Boulevard C50 sounds good, it does not sound like that.
